Neck Lift (Submentoplasty)
A sagging neck can cause those who are young to look old and those who are slender to look heavy. A neck lift can help resculpt the chin, jawline, and neck by removing excess skin and fat and repairing the playsma muscles.
A neck lift is often performed as part of a face-lift, but it can also be performed alone, under general anesthesia, on an outpatient basis. During a neck lift, you’ll get incisions around the ears and a very small incision under the chin to camouflage and hide the scars. If your skin is loose, the incisions are used to remove excess skin and fat. If you need muscle repair, your playsma muscles will be sutured together to tighten them.
Your recovery time depends on the extent of your procedures. Bruising and swelling may persist for up to 4 weeks. You’ll need to wear bandages for about 48 hours, and you may need to wear an elastic compression garment nightly for up to 2 weeks. Complete recovery and results may take a few months.
