About Me
I was born and raised in China. In 1990, I was fortunate to be accepted by Harvard University on full scholarship and I received a PhD degree in Biology in 1995. I was awarded my MD degree from Stanford Medical School in 2000. I subsequently completed my residency training at Stanford department of dermatology and joined Kaiser Permanente in 2004.
Having had a background in research, I was very actively involved in research of genetic therapy for skin diseases during my medical training, and have authored 13 publications in scientific journals including Nature Biotechnology, Oncology, and Journal of American Academy of Dermatology. One of the genetic therapy projects I worked on was for epidermolysis bullosa and this is currently being used in phase 2 clinical trial.
I now specialize in treating skin diseases and have a broad range of clinical practice, including medical dermatology, dermatologic surgery and cosmetic dermatology. I enjoy helping patients prevent and treat skin cancers, manage acute and chronic skin rashes, and improve skin health. I am also trained as a dermatologic surgeon performing removal of benign and malignant skin lesions. Part of my practice is also at the Kaiser Permanente affiliated Cosmetic Clinic, where I perform cosmetic services, including BOTOX, fillers, lasers surgery, removal of benign skin growth, etc.
I have been recognized by my colleagues at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara with a Hero Award in 2007, Group Excellence Recognition in 2013, and the Silver Scope award for Specialist of the Year in 2017. I am the current chief of dermatology department at Kaiser Santa Clara and its satellites.
I believe in volunteerism and giving back to the community. Since 2004, I have been a volunteer dermatologist at the VA hospital in Palo Alto, where I see and treat veteran patients, train Stanford dermatology residents, and teach Stanford medical students.
If you would like to make an appointment, or if you have any concern, you may leave me a message at the Santa Clara Dermatology Department at 408-851-4650, or at the San Jose Cosmetic Services Clinic at 408-851-8200. Please be sure to include your medical record number so that I can access your records quickly and answer your messages promptly, usually within one working day. I look forward to meeting you in person and helping you with your health concerns.
